Hi Will,
I appreciate how difficult it can be to live far away from family and friends – and even within the same country! Hang in there.

It happens also for who lives far from hometown, but in the same country. I’m Brazilian, living im a a large country as all know, and I see my family and best friends twice or three times a year. It’s sad, but is the real life. What can we do about job, study or something? It’s compplicated…

Hi Amanda!
I wonder if the perpetual feeling of being an out-of-towner has something to do with the innate sense of being a traveler in this world… 🙂

I had to get over guilt about that but it was definitely the best way! And reverse culture shock was a huge thing for me. Now I’ve lived back here for – eek, 7 years! – but I still feel a bit like an out-of-towner!

Hi Tracey,
Good plan to wait until you’re back before letting (too many) people know you’re in town. I’d suggest if there’s anybody specific you want to connect with, let them know you’re coming in advance so they can make time to see you, and as for the rest, wait until you’re in town and get a lay of the land.
And remember to have a good time! 🙂

My family and I are heading home for the first time in over 500 days traveling and I’m feeling a bit nervous about how we’ll manage our time while there. We haven’t told a lot of people that we’re headed home, other than our family. I think keeping it like that until we set foot back at home is the best course of action.
