Rikka,
Wow – what fabulous experiences you had by keeping your eyes and ears open on the road and being open to whatever came your way! That’s amazing.
Happy travels!

All because I acted on impulse/spontaneous, I ended up taking an amazing road trip around Iceland with a French guy and a Swedish girl, was introduced to the underground music scene in Berlin with an Italian guy, was shown around the Northern mountains of Thailand with a Thai local, and joined a German guy on a 15-day camping trip in New Zealand. All of these things are experiences I would not normally have had back home carefully planning out my life. It’s so good to let go of that on the road. Thanks for being an inspiration for this way of life!

Sheralyn,
I’m fond of saying that some of the best stories of adventure are borne of MIS-adventure….which is often borne of impulse. I think the trick is to maintain the same playful impulsive attitude when when you’re home. That is truly living in the present moment.

Amanda,
You’re right; there’s something about redefining yourself when you travel or the exploratory nature of travel itself that makes it easy to be more impulsive than you might be at home. Maybe the trick is to live with that impulsive travel mentality all the time…

I find it’s much easier to be impulsive in a foreign country than at home, too.

I took a 40-mile bike ride with a guy I just met through dirt roads around Angkor Wat.
