Dmitri – Relationships (of all kinds) on the road are an interesting thing….relationships with fellow travelers and locals. Here’s a more recent post I wrote on communication and relationships as a nomadic traveler:

Happy nomadic-travel-planning!

Thanks for not kicking me for being a jerk! Will read ~tomorrow! As a 26 year old who spent about the same amount of my life in California AND Kazakhstan, now developing a nomadic outlook for my future, the question of building relationships is very important to me. So, I really appreciate that you take the time to share your experience and insight because it is really helpful. Thank you!

@Dmitri – Thanks for your feedback and insight. I wrote a bit about the goodbyes and community vibes last year in this post:
https://www.theprofessionalhobo.com/motion-sickness-on-the-road/

And also about goodbyes on a romantic front here:
https://www.theprofessionalhobo.com/romance-on-the-road/

And you’re right. I try not to whine as much as possible, and I’m generally a very positive person. But as you will have read at the end of the post, I’ve used this sense of unease to reflect and explore my own self further. It’s all constructive!

I realize that sometimes a sense of community can arise spontanously, and also that sometimes living in the same apartment complex people can not even care to know each other. Different things. Anyway, that would be a topic worthy of insight.

about the “horror” your experienced with the parking job, and the likelyhood of it being the worst one in switzerland – I personally find it nice to avoid dwelling on things like that, but having to read about it is *positively tedious*. Sorry, but somebody had to tell you! Cheers though! Take care.

They’re not insurmountable, but in the wrong state of mind and combined with the wrong set of circumstances, it can certainly be overwhelming.

Thanks for your well-wishes!

I’m very sorry to read about your bad experiences.

The whole permanent address for finances sounds a nightmare for travellers. 🙁 Not helped by Visa having problems noting down the address!

Wishing you a hassle free time.

Best Regards

Andrew

No, don’t worry – you were great company on the flight to Zurich! I hope your stay was enjoyable, and that you have a great summer! Thanks for stopping by.
