It is our fave spot on the island. Kuta is a tourist town, similar to regions of Bangkok or Siem Reap of Patong, Phuket. Same town, different location. Ubud – and really, the surrounding rice fields more than anything – is a Balinese town. Specifically though those rice field towns about 20 minutes outside of Ubud town center.

The Bukit of Bali is another region that steps you into the past a bit, with its quiet, gorgeous beaches, small villages, etc.
