I’m new to blogging and I understand that Pinterest is a key to traffic but I simply cannot be bothered to learn how to optimize Pinterest.

Hi Mitch,
I can tell from even this comment alone that you bring a wealth of experience and wisdom to your current situation. I’m glad my own transparency has helped to inform your own decisions going forward!

I’d like to add to the observation you’ve made (and one I’ve made as well) about digital nomads changing gears towards a more stable lifestyle – I doubt any one of us would exchange our years abroad for anything. But I do believe that on the whole, the digitally nomadic life isn’t sustainable forever, for a variety of reasons. I’m one of the longest-standing digital nomads out there, and 12 years was my limit.

So while you are getting your own location independent career off the ground, if you also want to take off for a few years and apply some currency arbitrage to your lifestyle (living in a less expensive place), be my guest! Luckily I don’t also need to tell you not to underestimate the value of what you already have in Australia, because it seems to me from what you’ve written that you’ve already figured that one out. 🙂

In the early stages, it can be very tiring particularly when one has to do everything and progress is slow – one just has to keep turning up. So I appreciate your candour and transparency in your articles. Your LI reports have encouraged me to reflect on my own journey (so far) to making LI a reality. In reflecting on your LI/travel/biz articles, I have thought about the `why’ behind my decision to leave Australia to work, travel and be merry (I know from a couple of decades ago that it is not necessarily the romantic lifestyle it’s made out to be). Recently I have read a number of blog articles of long-term travellers/digital nomads choosing to change gears to a more stable lifestyle. Now I realise that I would like Australia to be part of that LI lifestyle instead of only choosing less expensive places to live in. Thanks.

Hey Gigi!
Glad you dig these posts. They take forever to put together and they’re not super SEO friendly, but I like how useful they are – not only for other travelers, but for me too!
As for Quora, it’s a part of my overall marketing and social media strategy, but I’m not sure it will ever become more than that. Let’s see! (Thanks for noticing btw). 🙂

So true sometimes & so unnoticed until it’s pointed out.

I learn a lot when someone shares their reality like you do, I appreciate it.

I love these posts so much. I also saw that you’re doing a lot with Quora, so will be curious to see if that factors into later business posts for you.
