Hi Bill,
I suspect that given the location of the beach on the island (more on the east coast than the south coast), it probably survived the eruption.
But unfortunately, I can’t give you any specifics, because it has been 12 years since I was there and I can’t remember! Not only that, but I no longer believe in going against signposted areas that say No Trespassing, especially if it involves sacred land.
That said, if you’re an Orr (of the Orr’s Beach ancestry), then perhaps you can talk to some locals who can respectfully show you the way.
Good luck, and happy exploring!

I wouldn’t mind some more specifics on location if u wouldn’t mind sharing with an Orr

Thank you for sharing, Jack! Indeed, I’m not into sharing the exact details of a location that involves trespassing. And yes, the rocks which line that whole coast make it a very dangerous place to swim. I wrote this post over 10 years ago; I can only imagine how it has changed. Enjoy your return trip!

I was close friends with John Orr and his wife Annette [RIP]. Over the years the sand slowly disappeared and left bowling ball sized rocks that could easily crush your ankles………….not as user friendly as it used to be, but far less people.
It is now locked and uninviting to locals or tourists and I may make the journey down to see the place that was my playground back in the day. Thanks for not being more specific with the location, as we all know that [too many] people can spoil a paradise so fast.
Thanks for the memories………….
