I’m on my 6 month solo trip now in Southeast Asia, and it is really easy … Not sure if it is because I’ve been to the region before, because I’m used to solo travel now, or because SE Asia is just so easy to travel in (probably all three!).
I think you’d surprise yourself with solo travel – we’ll get you out there before you know it!
In the mean time, I’d be happy to meet up with you somewhere (one of the best parts of solo travel is meeting new friends around the world!)

I have not been able to become a solo traveler as I am just not comfortable with the idea. But if you ever need company let me know and I would like to meet up with you during your travels. Esther

Thanks Dell 🙂
Panama was crazy hot! I told myself every morning as I left the AC, “just accept the fact that you will be sticky, just accept the fact that you will be sticky.”
I enjoyed the Miraflores locks (great museum too), and hope Nora gets to go too during her travels there!
Happy travels
Johanna

That bus brought back some memories! We used to call them Partridge Family buses, back when I was stationed at Howard AFB, about ten years ago. And, the heat! I’ve been to some pretty hot places on planet Earth, but I always thought Panama was the hottest place, on a consistent basis, that I had ever been to. If you get a chance to go there, the locks at Miraflores are quite interesting. I hope to read more, soon. Always love reading your entries.

Thanks Ryan!
Yes, the buses are very cool. The one in the picture is a diablo rojo (red devil), all independently owned, operated, and decorated! They are being phased out in favour of air conditioned buses like you’d see in most cities in the world. But this was the kind of bus I had to take out to the Summit animal rescue centre! Luckily the driver took pity on my clear lack of understanding of pretty much everything and delivered me safely. 🙂
Costa Rica is on my list – where did you stay for such an amazing wildlife experience?
Thanks!

And just for the record, the cool shot of the kid with the red frog is by Jason, not me. 🙂

Any travel tips more than welcome!

Central American all the way.

I have yet to do Panama; lived in Costa Rica for 2 months this past summer and loved the country. Food was awesome, people friendly, the landscapes were stunning and never, anywhere in the world, have I seen so much rare wildlife, sometimes on our door step!

We actually fed a rare and endangered troop of squirrel monkeys on the front porch of our apartment. Insane experience.

Thanks for sharing!

Ryan
