The fact that my girlfriend speaks and reads Chinese has really helped my travels round the world’s largest country, but we both prefer to go somewhere we both need to change and adapt our language, ways and culture!

Christmas holidays have passed me by – cant remember the last time Christmas actually meant the religious aspect to me unfortunately. Went to church near Macchu Picchu in 2010 apart from that I’ve been in China, Australia and even North Korea on recent Christmases…

Safe travels ladies. Jonny

It DOES help with the cultural immersion aspect… 😉

Isn’t it interesting how those holidays seem to come out of no where. I can recall going to businesses and wondering why they were closed, only to realize it’s some major holiday and that I better get to the grocery store quick and stock up before they close.

This is especially important when traveling in countries that use a completely different alphabet and writing. However, when married, this can be inconvenient, so I had to visit Japan with my non-Japanese speaking spouse in tow. 😉
