After the fevered pace of six countries (that I stayed in, making no mention of the ones I passed through) over 17 days in Europe<\/a>, followed by the constant vibration of a solid week aboard the Trans-Manchurian<\/a>, my Ultimate Train Challenge Finale travels through China and Vietnam and was no less adventurous or storied.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We blew through Beijing<\/a>, gazed at Guilin<\/a>, said Hello to Hanoi, and eventually settled in Saigon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some of the more interesting (and random) rail experiences<\/a> happened on this last part of the Ultimate Train Challenge, and my favourite train ride for scenery and photographic friendliness (due in part to windows that opened) was the last two-night ride from Hanoi to Saigon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
