It has since been updated for accuracy of links and content.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There&#8217;s something about the feel, the look, and even the smell of a book.<\/strong> I love turning the pages, feeling the cover, and devouring the text \u2013 on a plane, a beach, in a waiting room, lounging in bed, or anywhere else I happen to have a few moments to \u201cescape\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There&#8217;s something about the printed word<\/strong>, read off a good old fashioned piece of paper, that represents a pinnacle of success to many writers, should their words be immortalized in such a way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There&#8217;s something about books.<\/strong> Multiple times a week, people tell me \u201c<em>you should write a book<\/em>\u201d! Never mind the fact that I&#8217;ve probably written the equivalent of a dozen books between this website and all the other places I&#8217;m regularly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theprofessionalhobo.com\/writing-publicity\/\">published in magazines and extensively online<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>There&#8217;s just something about books. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was lucky enough to have my words first immortalized in print as a co-author of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/gp\/product\/B004NSVERS\/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_tl?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=www.theprofessionalhobo.com-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=9325&amp;creativeASIN=B004NSVERS&#038;tag=www.theprofessionalhobo.com-20\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"sponsored noopener\" aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\"><em>10,001 Ways to Live Large on a Small Budget<\/em><\/a>, released in 2009.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And I&#8217;m pleased to Road<\/a>.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n\t\t\t<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n\t\t\t<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"199\" height=\"265\" class=\"wp-image-3713\"\/><\/figure>\n\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\n\n\n<p>The book is a compilation of 67 stories written by 54 different authors taking place in 45 different countries around the world.<strong> I have two stories being published in the book <\/strong>\u2013 one about a bizarre encounter I had on a side street Spain, and one about the rigours of romance on the road.<br \/><br \/><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Getting Support as a Writer<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>With the release of my first book, I learned a few hard lessons about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theprofessionalhobo.com\/the-plight-of-a-writer-living-abroad-lessons-learned-about-getting-support\/\">getting moral and professional support<\/a>, especially while living abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has made me gun-shy about self-promotion in general; even more so when it comes to dealing with family and friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So I don&#8217;t want to flog this book on anybody \u2013 be you a stranger, a travel\/writing colleague, or my mother (<em>hi mum!<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I won&#8217;t keep track of who does and doesn&#8217;t order the book, so <em>don&#8217;t worry &#8211; you&#8217;re not being watched<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I do believe, however, that&nbsp;<em><strong>From The Grand Canyon to the Great Wall <\/strong><\/em>is a fun read,
